The Zulu Palette by Juvia’s Place

I’m not normally a ‘completionist.’  I won’t lie, I feel drawn to complete sets of things but generally I can fight the urge when the product seems to be something I won’t really use.  I lost that battle with The Zulu palette from Juvia’s place.  For the longest time I looked past this one, but eventually because I love their formula so much I picked this up even though it seemed much too bright for me.

I think that one of Juvia’s Place’s great offerings to the makeup world is their interesting palette colour stories – they certainly put things together that I wouldn’t have imagined doing and it is this which is the great joy for me of the Zulu palette.

Obviously if you really don’t wear coloured eyeshadow this palette isn’t for you, but if you are happy to play with colour, this really is a fun palette.  I was surprised how much fun I had with these shades and how well they worked together to create full eye looks.

This palette contains 6 matte shades and 3 shimmer shades.  It seems to be a trend in the Juvia’s palettes that the mattes are predominantly mid-toned and are buildable in nature rather than going on super pigmented from the get-go, and that is the case in the Zulu palette too.  I love the way the pink and yellow shades blend into an orange and also how the pink and purple mix.  So pretty.  The pink matte shade in particular, is surprisingly versatile.  More so than the other mattes, the purple does take some building but it’s workable.

The shimmers are very pretty and quite bright.  The pink shimmer has a strong gold shift and is the most neutral shimmer of the bunch.  The green and blue are really pigmented and apply beautifully.  Juvia’s shimmer formula is spectacular when applied wet or with your finger but these will go on lovely dry too.

Overall, I have been having SO much fun with this palette.  If you look at the Zulu palette and you are really drawn to the green and blue shimmers, there are very similar shimmer shades in the Masquerade Palette which you may already own (also from Juvia’s).  Although they aren’t exact dupes, its close enough for jazz.

I don’t regret this purchase for a second.  I’m having a blast playing with colour at the moment and this colour story has been so much fun to experiment with.  If you like the look of the Zulu palette Juvia’s Place do really regular 30 and 40% off sales on their website so wait for a sale and pick it up.  I don’t think you will regret it if you want a bit of colour in your eyeshadow world and this brand is super affordable so even if these aren’t shades you reach for on the daily, they won’t cost you the earth to buy.

Have a glorious day!
