Things I don’t love: Flawless Liquid Foundation

Oh man, was this foundation a disappointment.  I have a few products from Nude by Nature that I love so I was SO hopeful that this Flawless Liquid Foundation would work for me but… I. Just. Don’t. Love. It.

But firstly, the pros:

* The packaging is really beautiful: Frosted glass bottle. Rose gold cap and a nice pump. This looks and feels lux.  It retails for $39.95 so it isn’t budget makeup!

* Nude by Nature prides themselves on using good ingredients and it claims to be appropriate for even very sensitive skin.

And to be fair, for me, that is where the pros end.

They advertise this as being medium, build able coverage with a long lasting, satin matte finish that is like a ‘second skin.’ I mean it SOUNDS great but in my experience none of these claims were realised.

Firstly, this foundation oxidises like nobody’s business. I was SHOCKED. The colour darkened so much and went so orange it became a total mis-match shade wise.

Flawless Liquid Foundation – this formula oxidises! A fresh swatch on the left compared to the oxidised colour after a couple of minutes on my hand.

Secondly the coverage is so sheer. Two coats and all my blemishes were still totally visible.  It’s almost more like a bb cream. In an attempt for any kind of coverage I used it in combination with the Nude by Nature powder mineral foundation but the finished look was quite cakey.  (FYI I quite like the powder mineral foundation normally).  Also, this Flawless Liquid Foundation doesn’t last on my skin.  I could see it wearing off completely within a couple of hours and by the end of the day I could barely see it left on my skin.

Lastly, this is the patchiest foundation I have ever tried. I literally couldn’t get this to blend with a brush or a sponge. It’s like as you blend, it just picks up on its self and it was lifting off as quickly as I could lay it down.

This is a foundation I just don’t understand.  In my experience the product is so different to the description I’m Left wondering how it made it through to sale. If you use and love this, please let me know how you make it work.  I purchased this on sale and I’m SO glad I did because this isn’t a cheap foundation and it’s been a total fail for me.

If you want to try the Nude by Nature brand I can really recommend their brushes and they sell them in great value sets which are well worth the money.

Have a wonderful day!

Nude by Nature: contour palette

Nude By Nature is a cruelty free, Australian brand that is formulated using 100% natural ingredients and without preservatives or harmful synthetics.  They are PETA certified and are widely available in stores in Australia, as well as through their website.  I believe they are also sold throughout the UK, Europe, Canada and New Zealand.  Although Nude by Nature is a “drug store” brand it is certainly at the upper end in price.  I’m a girl on a budget so I was slow to try their makeup until I discovered their bundle kits which are MUCH better value and a great way to try out products from the brand.

I purchased this contour kit as part of a 2016 Christmas set in the 2017 January sales for a GREAT price and I have been very impressed.  The packaging is stylish with a rose gold outer plastic compact and good quality mirror and the overall size is great for travel and storage.  Each pan contains 4g of product.

Unlike other contour kits that I have tried there are not a mass of shades on offer here but it is everything you need for a matte contoured look: a cool-toned contour shade, a warm bronzer shade and a yellow-toned matte, highlighting shade.  The powders are soft, blendable and not SO pigmented that they are hard to work with.  I really enjoy these powders, so much so that I decluttered my other, larger contour kit once I had this in my collection.

Now, this is where we get to the cons about this product.  I have fair skin and these tones work well for me… but this is the only contour kit that they sell and it obviously won’t work for medium to deep complexions.  They certainly need a medium and deep version of this kit to properly meet the needs of the market.

Secondly, this product has a 24 month recommended shelf life but I found that after 12 months I started to get hard pan on the contour and bronzer shades which was disappointing.  Admittedly I have a large makeup collection that I rotate so I don’t use this product every week, and I live in a very humid climate so both of these factors may have contributed to the problem but it is not an issue I have generally encountered in my other powder products.  I have been just using a spoolie to lightly remove the affected areas but it is a bit of a bummer.

The Nude by Nature contour kit retails for AU$39.95 which is pretty expensive in my books and I don`t think I could justify paying that price.  Saying that, I do think it is a lovely product and if these tones will work for your complexion they are definitely worth trying.  Nude by Nature frequently goes on sale at Priceline so I`d recommend waiting for a good deal if you are interested or try one of their value sets.  (They do amazing, seasonal makeup kits on their website which will save you 50% off the retail price and would be a great way to sample from across the brand.  Anyway, I digress)

Have a great day!
