ColourPop Lippie Stix

Lets talk about the ColourPop Lippie Stix.  They are cruelty-free and at US$5 they are kind on the budget.  I currently have five colours in my collection:

Toucan – matte

Topanga – satin

Frenchie – matte

Cookie – matte

Lumiere – matte

I am in love with these lipsticks.  The matte formula is really creamy and moisturising and so comfortable to wear – they don’t feel like any other matte lip products that I own.  The packaging makes them really easy to apply with accuracy.  I didn’t buy the matching lippie pencils as I felt like I wouldn’t need them and I was right.  You can get a really sharp line with these lipsticks on their own and the satin and matte formulas last REALLY well.  I wore ‘Frenchie’ to work last week and it lasted through breakfast, two cups of coffee and then lunch before I re-applied it!

These lipsticks are really opaque.  I have very dry lips at the moment and these don’t emphasise the lines on my lips or gather on dry patches.  I am SO impressed.  I have been wearing one of these lipsticks a number of times a week since I purchased them and they have quickly become one of my most loved lip products.  I would recommend that you check blogs and youtube for swatches before you buy as I found that the photos on the website weren’t always completely true to colour – or there were not swatches provided!

I can not speak to the other finishes that the ColourPop Llippie Stix come in (eg. sheer, creme, glossy, hyper-glossy and ‘no finish’) but I absolutely recommend these five colours that I have tried and I can’t wait to try more…

Like I need move lipstick in my life!

Have a fantastic day 🙂

Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Colours

I have always tended to opt for lip gloss for work as lipsticks didn’t have the lasting power to be practical for me.  I just don’t have time to re-apply repeatedly throughout the day.  All of that changed this year when I came across the brand Wet n Wild which is a drug store brand in America, but one which is a bit difficult to access in Australia.  The online store Crush Cosmetics does sell this range though so after trawling through youtube and blog swatches I decided to try Wet n Wild’s Megalast Lip Colours for myself and since then I have gone back and purchased nearly the entire range of these lipsticks!  Wet n Wild are a Peta-certified, cruelty-free brand and at AU$5  from Crush Cosmetics they are kind on the budget.  The Megalast Lip Colours are such good quality with such great staying-power that they have become my everyday lip product of choice for work.

These lipsticks are described by the company as ‘semi-matte with a 4-hour wear time which produce a velvety colour that doesn’t cake, feather or bleed.’  I can definitely confirm that these have a great wear time and a velvety texture.  I have not found them to feather or bleed, even the bright colours, but they will cake up a bit if you don’t smooth off the first layer before applying the fresh coat.  Saying that, the lipsticks in this range can be a little hit or miss.  I have found some of the darker, brighter shades to be exceptional in all areas while some of the lighter, nude shades can be a little more fiddly to work with.  Although these lipsticks can be a little drying at times I try to avoid applying them over a lip balm as that seems to interrupt the effective application to the lips and leads to a more patchy wear.  For the lighter shades a lip liner certainly helps to ensure a more even, long wear.  Generally I reapply these lipsticks once after my lunch break and otherwise they last really well throughout the work day.  To be honest my greatest complaint would be the packaging.  The lipsticks don’t twist all the way down into the tube so I find that unless I am REALLY careful I tend to nick the colour when removing or replacing the cap which is really annoying.  It is nice to be able to see the colours when making a selection though so I suppose it is just something to be aware of.

I love these lipsticks.  They are by far my FAVOURITE budget-friendly, cruelty-free matte lipsticks.  They are super pigmented with such a long wear time which makes them super practical and for just AU$5 each you can’t go wrong really.  If you are in Australia and would like to try these for yourself you can find them at Crush Cosmetics here: Crush Cosmetics

If you know any other vendors that sell Wet n Wild products in Australia I would love to hear about them so please leave a comment below 🙂
