Tammy Tanuka: Sigil Inspired loose shadows.

I found the Sigil Inspired brand through Instagram and Tammy Tanuka’s Instagram feed is a delight for the eyes. She displays her shadows with swatches that coat her whole fingers and the most glorious eye looks. She also selects images and uses them to inspire a colour palette of her shadows – her feed is a joy.

When I went to her website sigil.me I was overwhelmed with the sheer number of shadows she has available to buy – 500 plus! Selecting the ones I would buy turned into a major project.  The site is in Russian with an option to change the language to English.  Despite this I found there was still a lot in Russian but it was possible to navigate regardless.  You can select the size of the eyeshadow and I purchased all mine in the ‘sample sized’ pots but this is still plenty of product and I would certainly recommend this before committing to a full size.  She has the option of PayPal and shipping was surprisingly fast.

When my purchases arrived I was not disappointed.  They were really beautifully packaged and the little pots themselves are quite beautiful.  But the shadows…. you guys.  SO.  BEAUTIFUL.

Sigil Inspired offers lots of duochrome shadows, shimmers, more glittery shadows, mattes as well as a collection of multichromes they call chromatics.  For my first order I chose shimmers and duochromes but I look forward to ordering some of their multichromes soon.  These shadows are really dynamic and beautiful on the lid.  They truely are special and I always get compliments when I wear these.

In terms of use these shadows definitely work best on a glitter glue.  As loose shadows they don’t contain much binder so they really don’t stick to the skin well on their own.  I have tried these by spraying my brush too but honestly if you want these to pop in all their glory use a glitter glue.  I use the glitter glue from Revolution Beauty and found it works well and these shadows remain bright, metallic and last all day without fallout.  I always do my base first and found if I tapped these onto the glitter glue I really didn’t have an issue with fallout full stop but you may prefer to do eyes first.

These shadows are really reasonably priced and I love the shadows I selected.  For me, I think selecting standout, special lid shades is the best option as I tend not to reach for loose shadows on the daily but it really isn’t much bother to do the eye look and then tap on a spectacular pigment as a final step.

Overall, I love these.  If you are looking for a cruelty free, indie brand Sigil Inspired is definitely worth checking out.   Be warned though, the website is a world of temptation to makeup lovers so click at your own risk.

have a great day!

Suva Beauty: Saffron Palette

The Saffron Palette is my first Suva Beauty eyeshadow palette. It is warm and and pretty and compact and I was really excited to try it.

The packaging is very pretty.  It is a sturdy cardboard, which is my favourite, and contains a mirror.  The names of the shades are written under each pan (also very cool) and overall I enjoy how this palette looks.

There are three mattes; two are very mid tones, a pinky red (paprika) and a red toned brown (cinnamon).  The other matte, Clove, is a darker, cool, burgundy brown.  I would have loved the cinnamon shade to have been a mustard yellow or pale orange to add variety as the two reddish matte shades are a bit too similar for such a small palette.

There are five shimmer shades with two distinct formulas.  Coriander (champagne), Saffron (bronze) and Sarso (burgundy) are very smooth and pigmented while Tumeric (orange gold) and the brown shade with gold glitter (star anise) are more metallic and flakey.  Star Anise in particular feels quite loose in the pan which may be because it contains a lot of glitter.  It’s beautiful but unless you want fallout like crazy then I recommend you spray your brush with a fixing spray after you pick up the product or apply over a glitter glue.

The most disappointing shade of this palette for me is Ginger.  It is a pale satin shade which is thin, lacks pigment and I just don’t really get it.  I suppose you could use it to highlight your brow bone or inner corner BUT it’s such a similar tone to Coriander it just seems like a waste of a shade.  I would have way preffered a red to orange duo chrome shimmer, a rich red shimmer or even a pale yellow transition shade or a deep dark chocolate brown matte. Any of those options would have added a real richness to the colour story that was lost with this shade selection.  I love a nine pan palette but it needs to be really well thought out and for me, four of these nine shades are a bit too similar.

I was, however, excited to realise you can do a very cool, burgundy look with this palette which I didn’t realise at first glance, and it makes this colour scheme more versatile than it first seems.

In terms of wear, I really like the formula of these shadows.  I felt like the mattes blended really well and the shimmers are beautiful. I have done a look with this palette using just shimmers and (aside from the two in the more flackery formula) they blended out well into the crease.

Overall, I really like the Suva Beauty formula and I have enjoyed this little palette.  The Saffron palette retails for around $50aud or $35usd and honestly I think that is a lot.  I got mine as part of a mystery bag so didn’t pay full price and I wouldn’t. If you want a nice little warm neutral palette at a more affordable price ColourPop does some great versions for significantly less and a similar level of quality in my opinion.  If you want to try something from Suva though – their hydra liners are so cool! Review coming soon.

So would I recommend the Saffron palette? For its quality?  Sure!  For the price… no.  If you do pick it up though, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Have a glorious day 🙂
