Physicians Formula: Murumuru Butter Bronzer

So I thought I would add my two cents to the enormous amount of content already online reviewing the Butter Bonzers from Physicians Formula.  Why not, right?  But if you are like me and you typically avoid products that get a rediculous amount of hype, I’m here to tell you that this is one makeup item that is well worth a look.

Firstly, Physicians Formula is a cruelty free brand but it is more on the expensive side when it comes to ‘drug store’ makeup.   I purchase Physicians Formula online through iHerb as it is MUCH cheaper there than in store in Australia.  I purchased the ‘light bronzer’ shade as it is warmer in tone, and it certainly is light.  If you have medium skin tone or darker this will be too light for you but as I am a very pale princess (and I’m not looking for a pronounced bronze) this works well for me.

Butter Bronzer in ‘Light Bronze’

I think that what I like about this product the most is that it feels like silk and blends like a dream.  It is so finely milled and because it is light, you can really slap it on pretty carelessly and it is hard to go overboard.  It looks natural on the skin and the colour is buildable.  I find it pretty foolproof and it lasts quite well on my skin even though I typically find coloured face products disappear quite quickly in the humid tropical heat where I live.

I suppose I should address the scent, which the Butter Bronzers are well known for.  It smells of coconuts and sunscreen and reminds me of holidays.  I enjoy the smell, which is quite strong when you open the compact, but I don’t find it lingers once the product is applied.  If you aren’t about scented makeup though, this might be a bit much for you.

The only negative that I have to note regarding this product relates to the packaging.  It looks cute and includes a lovely mirror but the included applicator is some kind of odd sponge this which I could never use to apply bronzer BUT the real issue is that it is pretty bulky.  It barely fits into my acrilic makeup storage that is designed for compacts, which is annoying.  If you aren’t anal about these kinds of things, it probably won’t be an issue for you.

Nice quality mirror but what is that sponge applicator about?

Also, the shade selection of this bronzer range is abysmal.  There are two shades, one warmer and one cooler in tone, but both are designed for pale skin.  I find that Physicians Formula often has very limited shade selection across their range which is disappointing.

Overall, I enjoy this bronzer so much I am tempted to purchase the other shade even though I’m really not a bronzer person.  If you have been put off by the hype around this product or even the price, I would encourage you to give it a go if you can find a shade that works for you.

Have an amazing day!

I Heart Makeup Theme Palette: U R The Best Thing.

So we are finally, (many months later than expected!) finishing the series of I Heart Makeup ‘Theme Palettes’ and I think we are ending with the best of it!

The formula of these shadows is in keeping with the range and for more details on the formula I encourage you to read my range overview here. This post, however, is a dedicated swatchfest for the ‘U R the Best Thing’ palette.

Row 2 swatches: mattes

The matte selection in this palette is super practical with a tone range from cream highlight through to a very pigmented black.

Row three swatches: shimmers – first 6 shades

I love the taupe shades on offer in the third row. SO pretty on the eye.

Row 3 swatches: shimmers – last 5 shades

The final pink shade in the row 3 shimmers is really flakey and is difficult to work with, it is really a dud shade.

Row 4 swatches: shimmers – first 6 shades

The first six shades of the 4th row are very reminiscent of the Naked 3 palette – pink tones and very pretty.

Overall, I think the colour selection in this palette is super practical and very everyday wearable. Of the three ‘Theme Palettes’ from this range this is the one I have gotten the most use out of. Admittedly these are mainly cooler tones but I think this is a very pretty shade selection and extremely travel friendly.

So that brings this series to a close.  Apologies that I have been MIA but I hope you have enjoyed the swatchfest and I look forward to posting more frequently.

Have a wonderful day!
